Why adopt?
"I was adopted about 4 months ago. I now live in a Farm (not farmville)"--CrissCross.

A few years ago, when I came out from church services, a little girl came up to me, begging for money for food. Without hesitation, I brought out a 20-peso bill and gave it to her. When my companion saw me do that, he immediately asked me why I was encouraging mendicancy. He said some of these girls would be working for a syndicate with unscrupulous handlers, using children to make a few bucks in the streets.

I told my friend that I did not want to think so far ahead as to worry about this little girl’s boss, or if she really WAS a beggar. My immediate instinct is to believe that she was hungry, and my basic assumption, judging by the way she looked, was that her last meal was hmmm, about 3 days ago.
From Ugly to Pretty...this is my mamameow's sexy thigh.

I feel that way, exactly about stray cats and dogs too! And hey, if you will start lecturing me about the BIG difference between trying to save begging children and begging animals (the latter has no soul (and I say, “what?!!”), I already have a deep, deep, analytical, much-thought about answer to that!

I would like to believe that there is a Loving, all-knowing Creator up there who made the greatest invention of all time, the humans, as well as the smallest creature on earth---let me see, the tick or the flea (?)---Laughing out Loud here,….then, EACH one of us, stray cat and dog included, deserves to be cared for and loved, WITH or WITHOUT soul.

With that out of the way, I want to show you this old sack that used to contain grains of rice. (But I deleted the picture because it was too upsetting). The office where papa meow works decided to label the cats as PESTS and actually hired a PEST CONTROL company to come over, forcefully use wires and meshes to catch the strays, put them ALL TOGETHER unceremoniously in sacks, and, I was told, release them in empty lots after diverting them around an old jeep for a few hours.
"Do I look like a Koala?"

When we arrived at the office, most of them had been caught and ‘dispatched’ to their ‘new homes’ already. I had no doubt that these cats were probably manhandled horribly, and I seriously had even more doubts that they were indeed brought to a better place to live happily ever after. I knew most of them might have died being pushed into sacks without oxygen. I was furious, to say the least.

Mama Meow turned into an angry Mama tiger! I took my knife-cutter that I used for dried flower arrangements and walked around the office grounds, looking for my lost kitties. FOUND one sack hanging by the janitorial/gardeners’ quarters. Without second thoughts, I slashed the sack open to let out a very fearful and traumatized kitten that was surely on her way to death row.
Koala or Wombat--Am ready for adoption

After that incident I called PAWS to ask for help and some Cat-psychology. I was told that for every 10 cats you catch and get rid of from any area they call home, another new set of 10 cats will eventually come in and claim it as their territory.

At the end of such a horrible day, papameow and I managed to save the one kitten inside the sack. We were also able to persuade the head of Housekeeping in the office to give us a moratorium….a few weeks for us to catch our beloved strays ourselves a bit more gently, and find good homes for them. We have since given away 37 cats and kittens, and that was 6 months ago. Today, a new number of cats (tomorrow it will be a different number)---30 of them---we lovingly continue to feed. EVERY SINGLE day, rain or shine, holiday or not, we feed them a complete meal at night. The babies and new mothers get to eat twice a day. Now that the rainy season is upon us, the kittens need homes badly.

So to you out there, if you happen upon a begging child, a stray cat or a stray dog, please take the time to feed him. Take the time to pat him at the back. HEY! Maybe take the time and even bring him home.  (I meant the cat or dog, not the begging child. You might be charged for kidnapping.)

It is best to assume that he has been hungry for hmmm…2 to 3 days. Don’t worry too much about which Syndicate the cat belongs to! Ok?
